This is poster 3 of 3 in a poster series created for bellydancer, April Rose, who is producing a wonderful show, Orientalis, scheduled to debut in Austin in November 2015. Orientalis is an exploration of the history and legacy of bellydance. The posters is 11″x17,″ Full-Bleed, Full-Color, printed on 100lb Gloss Cover with Aqueous Coating (C2S) using a Heidelberg Offset press.

I mail my posters in a large flat envelope to keep everything crisp, pretty & flat. The shipping cost is a flat fee of $5. If your total order is more than $30, shipping is free. I usually ship orders out once a week, but if you need a print fast, email me and we can work it out. I also sell the same posters in my Etsy store: Boxcar Salvage Prints, so if that is more convenient for you, have at it! Thanks for stopping by!

The Nile Casino poster is a tribute to the Golden Age of Egyptian bellydance, which began around 1926, when dancer Badia Masabni opened the first European style cabaret nightclub on the Nile. Masabni’s Casino Badia (1926–1937) & Opera Casino (1940–1951) featured and made famous dancers such as Samia Gamal, Tahiya Karioka, and Naima Akef. The casinos also provided a talent scout feeding ground for Egyptian cinema, another way bellydance reached international audiences.

• What is Orientalis according to April Rose?

It’s a romantic malady that has grabbed a hold of many people throughout time who have seen the beautiful art of bellydance, in its many forms. Like the lost city of Atlantis, Orientalis is a fantasy, an imagined place that has inspired some very beautiful art. Art that is situated in a context of global power dynamics between east & west. It’s an imagined place, and state of being that must be questioned as it is celebrated.
